Shafiqul Alam has extensive experience in development cooperation, having worked in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change project planning, implementation and management, advisory services, technology transfer, policy formulation, strategic collaborations and access to finance. He has conducted studies on renewable energy, energy efficiency, sectoral needs assessment and carbon pricing. He has led the formulation of national energy audit regulations. Among other things, he has supported the capacity development of different actors on sustainable energy and climate change. An engineer by background, Shafiqul Alam holds a Master’s in Environmental Economics along with an MBA in Finance. In 2018, he received the prestigious International Climate Protection Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany. He is also a recipient of the clean energy fellowship of the National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR), USA.
